Privacy Notice

We will use the information you provide to assess your entitlement to discretionary housing payments and community support grants and to identify any other help you may be entitled to by the council. We will also use it for the recovery of any overpaid benefit and for the detection and prevention of fraud.

As part of this we will share your personal information with other council departments, and other organisations which are listed in our privacy notice. More information on how we handle personal information and your rights under the data protection legislation can be found in our web site  http://www.coventry.gov.uk/info/54/benefits/3055/discretionary_housing_payments/1

An automated decision is made to decide if you meet the qualifying criteria. You have the right to ask for the decision to be looked at by a person and explained to you. To do this you can phone 02476832727 or email dgateam@coventry.gov.uk.

PLEASE NOTE THAT NO CASH PAYMENTS WILL BE MADE

The Community Support Grant Scheme is a discretionary fund.  There are some circumstances where your application will not be successful.  These include, for example:

  • where you have received two payments from the scheme within this financial year;
  • to make up for a reduction in benefit that has been sanctioned or disallowed;
  • to help with budgeting issues that are not an immediate emergency or crisis; and
  • where your needs could be met another way

You may instead qualify for a Short Term Advance or a Budgeting Loan from Jobcentre Plus.
